Write On, An Author’s Journey coming November 18, 2026 in eBook, audiobook, paperback, large print, and hardback formats. Having a release date means I can set a preorder for the ebook, and before I create a preorder, I need a blurb.

A book’s blurb—or as some call it, the book’s description—is important. When a prospective reader scrolls through book covers, the book cover is the first thing that gets their attention. The second thing? The book’s description. What is the story about? A good blurb hooks the reader and convinces them to read the book.

To be honest, my Haunting Danielle blurbs kinda suck. But if they suck, why do the books keep selling? And if they suck, wouldn’t better blurbs mean I’d sell more of my books?

All good questions and good points.

While each of my 38 Haunting Danielle books (with book 39 coming out in December) are standalone stories, I believe they are best read in order. I would rather convince readers to read the first book in the series, The Ghost of Marlow House, which is available free in eBook format at most major book retailers, and let the first book convince the reader to want to read more about the world of Haunting Danielle. If they don’t like The Ghost of Marlow House, then the series is probably not for them. But that is okay. Not all books are for all readers.

When I finish a Haunting Danielle book, I create a preorder for the next book in the series, giving the reader a title, cover, and a vague blurb. It is a vague blurb because at that point, it’s just an idea for the next book, and I don’t want the blurb to be too detailed, in case I take the story in an entirely different direction when I start writing.

A link for the preorder goes in the back of the current release’s eBook, so the reader can easily pre-order the next book.

I suppose I could go back after I write the next book and rewrite a more compelling blurb, but I don’t.

And so, here I am, putting a book up for preorder that is not a Haunting Danielle book—and unlike my other preorders, it is already written, and currently going through the editing process.

If you are wondering what I am talking about, it’s my memoir, Write On, An Author’s Journey, which will be released November 18, 2026. While I could release it sooner, I’m taking my time because I sold its audio rights to Tantor Media, and they plan to release the audiobook on November 18. On that date, the print versions and eBook version, will be released at the same time as the audiobook.

Now, back to my blurb…

I spent several days working on a blurb and sent a draft to my author friend, Carol Ann Newsome, aka C. A. Newsome. Carol Ann had been kind enough to beta-read the book and give me feedback.

For the next few days, Carol Ann and I bounced blurb copy back and forth. Finally, she told me (and I quote) “Your language is throwing a bushel basket over your light.”

With much help from Carol Ann, I rewrote the blurb. (Well, to be honest, she wrote most of it.) The eBook is now available for preorder at various online vendors, including AmazonBarnes & Noble and iBookstore.

And the final blurb? Here it is:

Write On, An Author’s Journey is the story of Bobbi Holmes, who as a little girl dreamed of being an author. These are the roads she traveled to becoming a USA Today bestselling author with a six-figure income and a much-loved paranormal cozy mystery series. The road leading to success was filled with setbacks, challenges, and dead ends. But it eventually led her to a life her younger self had always envisioned.

In the book, she revisits her journey while sharing with aspiring authors what she learned along the way. C. A. Newsome, author of the Lia Anderson Dog Park Mysteries, says, “Bobbi’s story is one of resilience, ingenuity, and determination. The way she reinvented herself and always found a path forward is inspiring to anyone with any kind of dream.”

Bobbi Holmes has over fifty published books, which include her Haunting Danielle mystery series. Under her pen name, Anna J. McIntyre, she has published romance and a family saga. She has over forty titles available in audiobook format, published either by Tantor Media or Dreamscape Publishing.
