We left Havasu on the second of September, heading first to Morro Bay, where we left Mom with my sister and met up with friends, Dave and Carolyn Walsh. After three nights at Morro Dunes, we went on to Bodega Bay for four nights, and from there to Eureka for three nights.

At Eureka we visited with cousins and Don’s Uncle John. We parted ways with Dave and Carolyn, who headed to the Tahoe area, while we continued up to Oregon. There we spent four nights at Seal Rock Cove, and visited with our son and daughter-in-law.

On the return trip we stopped one night in Medford, and two nights about thirty minutes from Sonora, so we could visit with more cousins. Then it was back to Morro Bay for three nights, before heading home. There we visited with my sister and cousin Rod, and his grandson.

While I rarely pulled my laptop out on this 20 day road trip—or worked—I did make a number of lists. Lists on what I needed to buy and do for our next trip.

There is much I love about our motorhome when compared to our 5th wheel. While I miss the 5th wheel’s larger kitchen, I love our motorhome’s large refrigerator and freezer. I would definitely rethink what to bring—food wise—on our next trip. Linda’s beef jerky was a hit—as was the packet of instant mashed potatoes (just add 2 cups of boiling water). But future meals will be more along the way of foil packet meals, and less on food prep that requires large pots and pans.

Another thing I love about the motorhome is the pullout table outside, and the electrical outlets next to it. It was the perfect place to set up a coffee maker and our portable ice maker. Yet it did require covering with a plastic trash bag when we got rain.  One of the items on my must buy list—an electric grill to use on the table outside. Don was annoyed with the propane grill he had purchased back when we had the 5th wheel. I think we are rehoming that, and getting something else.

With the pups we really need a small electric hand vacuum, to suck up all that dog hair and dirt I sweep up each day. And I would also like a Swifter for mopping the floors. I figure we can store it in the bathroom. I am a bit of a clean freak.

I also need better cabinet organization. We have amble storage space, but the cabinets need shelving so I am not just piling stuff.

Whenever I miss some of the perks about our 5th wheel that is lacking in our motorhome—like the much larger bathroom, shower, and linen closet—or the larger kitchen counter area—I remind myself how uncomfortable the 5th wheel bed was. I love the  motorhome bed, very comfy, and unlike the 5th wheel, I have a night stand for my water bottle. I also love the fact it is so easy to hook up and leave—and traveling is so much nicer. No more searching for rest stops and using public toilets!

Don and I also lost weight on this trip—Don lost ten pounds, and I lost six. We didn’t restrict our food, but there was a lot of walking with the pups!
